My love of art began as a young girl roaming the backcountry of deep East Texas. I spent hours accompanying my Dad on various outdoor excursions throughout Red River and Lamar Counties. It was there that I developed a keen connection and passion for the outdoors. I have had a multitude of inspirational instructors throughout my painting experiences. One of my first art instructors was Shirley Kirby. Shirley was paralyzed from the shoulders down from polio as a young girl. I spent many hot afternoons beneath the protective shades of the giant oak trees sipping ice tea, listening to stories and painting with Shirley. Shirley's influence obviously lead me to appreciate many aspects of life.
Through a successful career as a physical therapist, I have been afforded the opportunities to live and work in some of the most scenic areas of the North, Midwest and Southwestern United States. My travels throughout Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Montana ultimately lead me to Alaska and have provided an endless array of paintings waiting to be put to canvas.
In 2020, My husband, Scott, and I successfully sold our physical therapy clinic which had been my life's work. After 25 years in private practice, I have semi-retired, returned to school and have begun realizing a lifelong dream of being a professional artist.
I enjoy mostly landscapes and wildlife but have begun exploring painting dogs, which I particularly enjoy, as well portraits and working with various community projects.
I currently divide my time between two of the most beautiful states in the country. Summers are spent in Sterling, Alaska where I live on a man-made canal of the world famous Kenai River. When the long days of winter are too dark I retreat South to a secluded ranch in Detroit, Tx. There, I often enjoy watching migratory birds come into the lake, listen to a Whip-poor-will , hear the lonely calls of the coyote or witness an evening bass rise for a fly.
When I am not painting, I am writing, gardening or fishing.
Personal Statement:
I hope you enjoy my art and find yourself inspired to experience all that Nature has to offer.
My goal with all of my paintings or stories is that you will stand in awe of something outside of yourself, something deeper than the surface, and know that all of creation is mysterious and majestic.
I find my deepest peace when I am outdoors. Outside is where I find God Almighty. On a river, a lake, admiring a flower, or hiking a mountain trail.
Amos 4:13 is one of my all time favorite scriptures. In Nature, I am reminded every day of His Majesty.
I predominantly paint in oils and gouache but I enjoy exploring other media often such as pastels, watercolors, and acrylics. My sketch pad, colored pencils and camera accompany me on most outdoor excursions.

My art is inspired by experiences with people, animals and the outdoors. As Jon Donne said, "No man is an island, entire of itself; every man (or woman) is a piece of the Continent, a part of the main..." It is not the the subject matter or the composition but the experience behind the painting that inspires me to put paint to a canvas. People and nature are my inspiration.
